Image details

Comments Descendants of Norse settlers occupied the area of North Meols before the Norman Conquest. Meols Hall has Grade II listing and has been in the Hesketh family for 27 generations and remains privately owned. Parts of the original hall were demolished in the 18th century but the 17th century core remains. Modest renovation took place in the 1930s however, the main and substantial reconstruction took place in the 1960s. During the First World War Meols Hall was used as a hospital for wounded Belgium soldiers and today during the summer months guided tours are hosted showing the house, contents and grounds.
