Image details

Comments The nursery was a place were visitors could leave their children for a few hours or a full day while on holiday and started in 1908. The scheme was the idea of Mary Willett sister to the Mayor, John Eddowes, and he was in office for 3 occasions 1907-8, 1914-15 and 1922-23. Each lady Mayoress in office was responsible for the management of the nursery. The nursery building was situated on the sands near the pier and cost sixpence per child.
