Comments | The Rev. Charles Hesketh donated the land for the future Hesketh Park with a proviso and the Improvement Commissioners gratefully accepted. The conditions stated that the park would be surrounded with an iron palisade and four entrance gates, ornamental features mounds, trees, shrubs, and a walkway and to keep the park in good order. The opening ceremony took place on May 1st, 1868, by the first Mayor of Southport Dr Peter Wood. |
