Image details

Comments Seaforth Barracks in Claremont Road was opened in 1882 and became a landmark feature in the area. The barracks was originally built for the cavalry, and recruits came from Northern Ireland and North-West England for basic training. However, in later years the War Office turned the barracks into a Royal Artillery Depot, and in 1961 Crosby Council bought the site from The War Office but complete take over was not finalised until 1969.
